The UBIZ5 is constructed from “Bizweld Fire Resistant” fabric– specially designed for comfort and safety. This 9.5oz coverall is generously tested to pass all US and EU fire resistant standards. Bizweld protects the wearer from radiant, convective and contact heat as well as molten metal splash.

The garment is reflective and equipped high visibility tape along the shoulders, elbows and ankles. Reflective clothing is highly effective in minimizing accidental injury in low-light environments.

  • 9.5oz Bizweld fabric (100% Cotton w/ FR finish)
  • Dual hazard protection (radiant & convective heat)
  • Protects against molten metal splash
  • Guaranteed FR for life of garment
  • Highly flexible
  • Comfortable cotton material
  • Reflective FR tape along the shoulders, elbows and ankles

Fire Resistant Properties
  • ARC2 – Individual must wear an arc rated FR shirt, and FR pants, or FR Coverall with an arc rating of of at least 8 cal/cm²
  • Arc Thermal Performance Value (ATPV): 11.2 cal/cm²
  • HAF: 80.4%
  • ASTM F1506-10A
  • NFPA 2112
  • NFPA 70E
  • EN ISO 11612: A1+A2, B1, C1, E1, F1
  • EN ISO 11611 Class 1: A1+A2

The ASTM F1959/F1959M-12 standard is a test method designed for determining the ARC rating of materials for Clothing.

This testing method is often used in close conjunction with NFPA 70E for classifying PPE.

The EN ISO 11612 standard is used to test a garments ability to limit fire spread, and protect against exposed, radiant, convective or contact heat as well as molten metal splashes.

The Alphanumeric codes follow the EN ISO 11612 designates the fabric’s grade in a specified test.

A1 + A2 – This garment passes the Limited Flame Spread test for Surface & Edge ignition.
B1 – This garment can withstand exposure to extreme convective heat for 4-10 seconds before rising above 24°C
C1 – This garment can withstand exposure to extreme radiant heat for 7-20 seconds before rising above 24°C
E1 – This garment can withstand exposure to 60g – 120g of molten iron before deforming the human-like membrane placed under the fabric
F1 – This garment can withstand exposure to contact heat for 5-10 seconds before rising above 24°C

The NFPA 2112 standard specifies the minimum requirements for a garment to be considered “fire resistant”.

Garments which are certified NFPA 2112 must pass each of the following tests:

Heat Transfer Performance – Tests how much heat is transferred through a garment
Vertical Flammability Test – Tests how easily the fabrics ignite and continue to burn
Thermal Shrinkage Test – Tests the fabrics resistance to shrinkage when exposed to heat
Heat Resistance Test – Tests how the fabric reacts to extremely high heats
Thermal Manikan Test – An overall test on the how the fabric performs in a coverall design exposed to 3s of extreme temperatures
Thread Melting Test – Threads used in cerified NFPA 2112 garments must use threads that can withstand temperatures of 500℉

The NFPA 70E standard gives guidance for selecting the appropriate PPE in environments where an electric shock could occur.

The NFPA 70E standard breaks a garments ARC RATING into 4 categories:

ARC 1 – ARC Rated FR Shirt AND FR Pants OR FR Coverall that meets the minimum 4 cal/cm2
ARC 2 – ARC Rated FR Shirt AND FR Pants OR FR Coverall that meets the minimum 8 cal/cm2
ARC 3 – ARC Rated FR Shirt AND FR Pants OR FR Coverall + Arc Flash suit so the combined system meets the minimum 25 cal/cm2
ARC 4 – ARC Rated FR Shirt AND FR Pants OR FR Coverall + Arc Flash suit so the combined system meets the minimum 40 cal/cm2
